While the zines and the lists of books (2021, 2022) are still available online, this project is not currently active.
Hi, Iām J. šš»
I started this project to give away 21 queer books in 2021.
Queer stories have played a huge part in understanding and finding comfort in claiming my queer, trans identity. This project is an opportunity for me to read and share more queer stories, support queer authors, and patronize local independent bookstores.
In return for a book I ask recipients to share a story with me. At the end of the year I assemble these stories into a zineāzine participation is totally optional!
The story can be nearly anything you want to share!
It can be:
š something personal
š someone elseās work that moved you (leave the copyright box unchecked)
šØ original artwork (drop a link in the textbox)
š³ what you had for breakfast
Hateful stories will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to:
Stories which reinforce social structures of domination related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, appearance, race, age, or religion.
Promoting or spreading disinformation, lies, or conspiracy theories against a person, group, organization, project, or community.
Sharing othersā private information, such as a physical or electronic address, without explicit permission.
This is not the place to share explict or pornographic stories, or imagery.
If you chose, you can grant permission for your story to be included in the TheirOpen.Page zine. All contributors will recieve a printed copy by mail.
Volume 1 & 2 of the zine are now available in open editions for download; there are versions set up for print and for reading digitally.
Quality: Best
Paper size: 8.5" x 11" US Letter
Scale: 100%
Two-Sided: Short-Edge binding
Page Order: Reverse
The way my printer does two-sided printing, for me the āReverseā setting causes the pages to curl inward, rather than out.
TheirOpen.Page Volume 1 & 2 by TheirOpen.Page are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License.
In short, this means:
Credit contributors and TheirOpen.Page when sharing this work
Copies of this work must be non-commercial
Reproduce this zine in its entirety, without modification
Contributors retain original rights to their work
The books I offer up are some of my favourite reads over the past year.
Each book is queer in some way.
I am leaving it to you to look up additional information about each book, including relevant content notes.
I am only shipping within Canada and to the United States.
I canāt accept returns or exchanges, and I canāt guarantee shipping times.
This project is limited to what I can personally commit to doing myself. IĀ am not looking to expand the project this year and I am not seeking financial support.
Check this list of other places you can give.
If you can afford to buy a book, donāt let that stop you from participating! IĀ encourage you to shop additional books at your local independent book store.
